A NICE CHRISTMAS PRESENT

I received this email this morning:

Dear Kate:

Sorry for taking so long in getting back to you and yours on this. I’m mostly to blame, but it did take longer than anticipated working with Mother Earth News and matching prizes with entries. The good news is that you are one of the winners (of the Grow-off Show-off competition) and we decided to award you the $100 gift certificate to Johnny’s Seeds of Maine. You’ll be happy to hear that the cash prize went to a good cause, two in fact. We’re dividing it between a school garden project in El Salvador and a garden project helping poor women in Nepal. You’ll be written up in their February issue. I’ll get the gift certificate out to you as soon as I can which will probably be next week. Congratulations!

Thats great, I remember Deb wanting to grow a special variety of pumpkin that is grown for its seeds for eating, I eat heaps of pumpkin seeds and the only organic ones I can get here are from china so I would like to grow some too. How about sesame and edible sunflower seeds too. There are heaps of nutrients and good oils in seeds.

Congratulations Kate!! I have a feeling you are probably already planning next years entry.I just hope it does'nt involve dressing up in strange vegetable outfits, then again that could be fun! Especially if Deb has supplied some Elderberry Wine!
I'm still not sure about how to post a blog, but Happy Christmas everyone and good health and wellbeing in the New Year. Glenys x

Awesome news, Kate! Flat Stanley is jumping up and down and cheering right now! Can you hear him?

(I'm starting to sound like Maggie!)

Yep I can hear Flat Stanley even above the noise of all the white cockatoos across the road. We are picking zucchinis, tomatoes, cucumbers and basil, all the things Stan the Man helped buy from Diana the day we went to the Farmer's Market. Keep warm Stan we are trying to stay cool.
