HOPE, AT LAST

Look what Roger Doiron from Kitchen Gardeners International has done with his amazing persistence and dedication to the cause of home food growing. He needs enormous thanks from all of us for setting the stage for America to lead the world into a bright future. Lets hope the Obama's and the people of the American government take up the opportunity and not fritter it away and bow to the pressures of agri-business.

Thankyou, Roger, for your enormous efforts over the last couple of years and your foresight in attempting to do the seemingly impossible. I wish I could have been strong enough to join in with a similar Australian campaign but it all just seemed to hard. Maybe now, though, gardeners in other nations will have a less difficult job to do in reaching the leaders of their own countries and encouraging them to follow the Obamas.

Kate: You absolutely cannot imagine how the ripple effect of this action is already being felt all over America. What's especially good is the fact that Michelle has never gardened before. That's inspiring a lot of first-time gardeners to dig in.

It is so cool that you got to stay with Roger and his family recently.

As for Australia, I was at a conference yesterday where all the talk was about the drought in Australia and how we must learn from what your region in experiencing. I, for one, am going to try to use some of your water conservation ideas this summer in my garden. We all need to help each other.

This is such good news! I was so excited when I heard about it on the radio the other morning ... it will be a great example to the world. What a wonderful change in the White House! Maybe leaders of other countries will follow now if we all keep trying to persuade them!

Isn't it fantastic news! SGA may be considering taking up the kitchen-garden-at-Kevin's campaign as they were asking for people's opinions in their last survey.
