I was talking to the owner of Tumbeela and he said there would be a walk around tour of the farm soon. Does anyone know about this?
They have a stall at Stirling markets and were at Adelaide markets last week.
They have mountain pepper trees for sale, we had one but it died , I think they like the cold of the hills.
Has anyone grown one in the plains?

I don't know about the walk and I haven't but want to grow the tree as I just love the peppery taste of the leaves, seeds and using the twigs as skewers. How much do they sell for? I will gladly test pilot one for the Lower Mitcham area :)
Brett, the mountain pepper plants are $6.50 each for a small plant, see photo.
The walk may be that Slow Food one as Deb said it was coming up soon but they had cancelled the lunch.
Thanks Maggie I'll grab a couple this weekend hopefully and see if I can propagate a few cuttings for us all plus get some seeds.
I just read last night that this primative flowering plant is a dioecious species, which means that it bears male and female flowers on separate plants so if you want to harvest pepperberries you will have to grow one of each. Check this out with the grower , I am just an interested two finger typist!
How fascinating is nature!
I went there today and got a mountain pepper. You only need male and female to get the berries. The man said the leaves are better anyway. They need cool, damp shade and can be grown in a tub.
